In a strong alliance to build the largest tennis complex in the world in northern Floyd County, Berry College, Floyd County, the City of Rome and the Coosa Valley Tennis Association are assembling support and funding for the project:

President
The former sports editor of the Rome News-Tribune for the past 20 years, O’Hara also serves on the NAIA National Championship Game Host Committee and serves as a media consultant for Shorter College. He is a charter member of the Rome Junior Golf Association,has served on the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame Honors Committee and the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame Nomination Committee, and was a voting member for the Heisman Trophy Award for 15 years. Jim'a tennis honors include the 2001 GTA and USTA Southern Section Media Excellence Award.

A member of the CVTA since 2004, Leatherwood has captained numerous league teams, helped coordinate the 2007, 2008 and 2009 state league tournaments, and is already working on 2010 tournament plans.She is the 2009 recipient of the George Wallis Volunteer Service Award, and has contributed countless hours and immeasurable energy to promoting tennis in Rome and Floyd County.

SCOTT BENTLEY
Immediate Past President
A Rome businessman who has been playing league tennis for the past 12 years, Bentley has been active throughout the community serving as a member of the Georgia Highlands College Foundation board where he is the chair-elect. He is also a member of the board of the Network Day Services Foundation, a board member of the Rome International Film Festival and serves on the Governmental Affairs and Small Business Council of the Rome/Floyd Chamber of Commerce. Bentley is actively working with the community to create a regional tennis complex and a regional Angels Investors Group. The owner and manager of a regional electronics firm, Bentley resides in Rome and Cedartown, and enjoys flying, tennis, skiing, hiking, world travel, farming and water sports.

BILL THORNTON
Board member
Thornton, a former CVTA and Rome Tennis Club president, is well known outside Rome as well having served as the Georgia Tennis Association District 1 director and as a member of the GTA board of directors. Still active on the court – he was a member of the 2007, ’08 and ’09 Senior Mixed 6.0 state championship teams – Thornton is the recipient of the Horace Anthony Volunteer of the Year Award, the George Wallis Volunteer Service Award, the Heart of the Community Award and is a member of the Rome-Floyd Sports Hall of Fame for Meritorious Service.

MARGARET KNIGHT
Board Member
A USTA member since 2005, Knight has captained numerous teams in league play as well as serving as a volunteer in numerous tournaments held in Rome.

SUSAN DAVIS
Board Member
Davis has been an active USTA/CVTA member for the past 10 years, has served on the Adult Players Committee and has been a captain for adult, combo, and mixed teams that have participated in state championship tournaments.
